In such cases, we recommend the following steps: Check the rulebook, army books, 7th FAQ. If still having trouble, check with a judge. Judges will be clearly visible. If the judges are stumped, or the rules simply don't cover the issue, dice it! Dice-offs must be mutually agreed upon. There is no shame in trying to get the rules right (may just help smooth things out next game). There is shame in being a jerk-face, no matter the context, so always bear in mind that rules disputes are no cause to get flustered! In cases of measurement disputes, extra opinions are better than dice-offs. Ask someone nearby to lend a hand. A Note about laser levels and pointers: Lasers are ultra-handy warhammer tools. Lasers provide clean lines for checking LOS, charge arc, compulsory movement paths, etc... They speed up games and reduce debate. Used positively, they are a welcome addition to the game (far surpassing other arc/LOS tools). Please feel free to bring them, but also be sure that your opponent has equal access to it. Scenarios and Terrain 1. All games will feature a scenario. Each scenario will include a possible scenario bonus of 3 battle points. 2. WHFB Scenarios will be posted in October. WH40K scenarios will be directly from the 5th Ed rulebook. 3. Terrain will be preset by the setup crew. Expect some boards with as little as 4 pieces of terrain, and others with as many as 8. 4. Terrain rules will be clearly detailed at each table. SCORING (WH40K AND WHFB) Opponents will be matched based on battle points via the Swiss pairing system Game Play 75 points (60 battle points + 15 scenario points) This is straight wins and losses. Strategy and tactics matter here and a bit of luck with the dice rolls. You will get 12 points for a win, 8 points for a tie and 4 points for a loss, with a possible 3 point scenario bonus for each game. Sportsmanship, painting and army composition will have 5 check boxes. Scoring will be as follows: Sportsmanship 35 points (35 sportsman points + favorite opponent for tie breaking) 1 Check = 1 pt 2 Checks = 2 pts 3 Checks = 4 pts 4 Checks = 6 pts 5 Checks = 7 pts Sportsmanship is a measure of your character and style of play. You will be judged by your fellow gamers on how sporting and friendly an opponent you are. Are you able to work out differing interpretations of rules so both sides are satisfied, or are you only concerned with getting the advantage to win the game? 7 per game and a Player's Choice for tie breaking. Painting and Conversions 35 points (25 artistic points + 1-10 points from judges) 1 Check = 1 pt 2 Checks = 2 pts 3 Checks = 3 pts 4 Checks = 4 pts 5 Checks = 5 pts Before each game, players will look over their opponents miniatures and mark an artistic score. 5 minutes will be allocated for this task. Your painting will be judged by your opponent by a series of 5 check boxes. To score maximum points you must include some conversions, have multiple layers in highlights and shading, and have colours that work well with the army and that are representative of your army background. 5 per game plus 1-10 points awarded from event judges. Army Selection (0.75 to 1.25) and 20 points (0.75 to 1.25) Battle Factor 1 Check = -0.050 pts 2 Checks = -0.025 pts 3 Checks = 0 pts 4 Checks = +0.025 pts 5 Checks = +0.050 pts Before each game, players will mark their opponents army composition and theme. 5 minutes will be allocated for this task. Your composition/selection/theme will be judged by your opponent by a series of 1-5 check boxes (representing -0.050, -0.025, 0, +0.025, +0.050). All 5 scores will be added together and then added to a base score of 1 for a final result between (0.75 to 1.25) (20 points) During the tournament, a copy of YOUR ARMY LIST will be reviewed by 3 of the event Judges and assigned a composition score between 0 and 20 points. This score will be an average of 3 judged scores. Awards Best Overall All four scoring categories are totaled to determine who is Best Overall. In the event of a tie, the highest sportsmanship wins. Best General Battle Score is multiplied by Army Selection factor (0.75 to 1.25) to determine who is the Best General. iI the event of a tie the higher Army Selection wins. In the event there is still a tie, the highest sportsmanship wins. Best Sportsman The person who received the highest Sportsmanship score is the Best Sportsman. In the event of a tie, the most favorite player vote wins. If still ties, highest overall score will be used as a tie-breaker.
