U2KR Games Arena 2010

Postby NitNit on Wed Nov 04, 2009 11:31 am

Hey everyone -

We are just starting the planning stages for next years event and currently wondering what the preferred month would be for the players? February? March? April? May?

Let us know - and keep in mind nothing will happen during the mid - February Olympics.

Hello,

If at all possible might I suggest trying to avoid February, or at least the beginning of February as we will be hosting our Warhammer 40K and Fantasy Invitationals to the North American Championships at GottaCon and having a conflict like that would suck. Otherwise hope to see you guys over for the big events!

So far the static from Thunderbowl indicates that the Blood Bowl guys would like to see this event run in March, with the second choice of April. We're going to check the availablitity of our venue in late March.

Stay tuned.

I'm hoping it won't be be the weekend of March 12-14. Trumpeter's are having their annual convention with a 40K tournie. I'm trying hard to recruit as many 40K players there for Games Arena.

Good to know MoW - thanks..... although 40K at Trumpeters over the last few years has been very light.

I wanted to bump too but didn't want to double post. Since I work weekends I need to book holidays around these events. Hopefully we can hear something soon.

err.....sorry guys but somehow we missed these bumps!

In any case - due to scheduling conflicts, summer holidays, families etc, Games Arena 2010 will not run with the same format as 2009. In fact - this year U2KR will still be hosting Thunderkrunch! and a possibly an alongside 40K tournament, MTG will be run my Mike MacPhee as usual, but along it's own schedule. There are no plans to run Fantasy. We are currently looking at May/June/July for an event date, which will be decided withing the next 2-3 weeks.

Stay tuned!

AAAAAHHH

no fantasy portion oh no. You guys did such a great job of the last 2 events I seen the post and thought great sign me up until I noticed the no fantasy disclaimer. Oh well time is always precious and it takes a lot to run a big event like you guys do.

Oh well you will still see me come out even if its just to watch a few 40k games.

On a side note any interest in having someone run an event in conjunction with your event. I have been talking with a few friends about a doubles tournament or a 2 day fantasy campaign over the last few months. Maybe this would fit and would take some of the workload off your shoulders.
